Impact Investing is now finding its place in the Australian market as organisations investors, and government work together to develop strategies that have the intent of delivering positive social and environmental impact as well as positive financial returns. Josephine will discuss the value of Impact Investments and the role HESTA is playing. Based on its impact investment strategy, Hesta has established a dedicated impact investment fund with committed capital of A$70 million — the Social Impact Investment Trust (SIIT), which is managed by Social Ventures Australia to deliver definable and measurable social impacts and financial returns. HESTA’s SIIT has made it possible for Social Ventures Australia's to fund impact investment projects at a scale that has made a meaningful impact on social and affordable housing challenges. Impact Investments support building a better economy, environment and society. Josephine will discuss and demonstrate how impact investments which include supporting the health and community services sector, social and affordable housing, and increasing the supply of specialist disability accommodation can be another way DES providers can develop their engagement deeper into their communities.
